The Tour of Austria has long been regarded as one of Europe’s most prestigious stage races. For Storck – MRW BAU, it was far more than just another event on the racing calendar—it was a true benchmark against some of the strongest teams and riders in international cycling.
Five demanding stages, countless meters of climbing, and an exceptionally competitive field pushed our entire team to its limits. Yet these are exactly the challenges that help young riders grow and ambitious projects take the next step forward.
From the opening stage to the final finish line, Storck – MRW BAU performed as one united team. Every rider fought for his teammates, every staff member worked tirelessly behind the scenes, and together we proved that commitment, teamwork and professionalism are not defined by the size of a team’s budget, but by the people who believe in the project.
A special highlight came from Álvaro Sagrado, who delivered a consistently impressive performance throughout the race to finish 16th overall in the General Classification. In a peloton filled with WorldTour and ProTeams, this result represents far more than just a placing—it demonstrates the potential within our team and confirms that we are moving in the right direction.
However, the Tour of Austria was about much more than results. It showed that we continue to grow together as a team. Every kilometre, every climb and every stage made us stronger. Our riders gained invaluable experience at the highest international level and had the opportunity to compete against some of the best professionals in the world. These are the races that build character and lay the foundation for future success.
Away from the race itself, the event also highlighted how professionally our organisation now operates. Day after day, our mechanics, sports directors, soigneurs and physiotherapists worked relentlessly to ensure our riders could focus entirely on their performance. Their dedication often goes unnoticed, yet it forms the backbone of every successful team.
With Álvaro Sagrado’s outstanding 16th place overall, countless valuable lessons learned and a united team performance, we leave Austria full of confidence. The progress of our project is becoming increasingly visible, not only from a sporting perspective, but also organisationally and as a team.
Our focus now shifts to the next major challenges of the season. The Lidl Deutschland Tour and the Tour of Britain are just around the corner, providing new opportunities to build on the momentum gained in Austria and continue our development.
We are only at the beginning of our journey. But with every stage, every race and every success we move one step closer to our ultimate ambition: strengthening German professional cycling and earning our place in the UCI ProTeam category.
