Historic Days for Storck – MRW BAU at the Vuelta Asturias

Team Storck – MRW BAU arrived at the Vuelta Asturias Julio Alvarez Mendo in northern Spain with big ambitions and even bigger motivation. The demanding roads of Asturias, the steep climbs and the relentless terrain were always expected to create the perfect battlefield for aggressive riders and courageous racing.

Four brutal stages awaited the peloton — almost no flat roads, barely any recovery and explosive climbs every single day. Already on the opening stage from Oviedo to Benia de Onís, the riders faced five categorized climbs, including the famous Alto del Fitu, which immediately created the first selections in the race.

But it was during the queen stage that everyone realized this race would become a true battle of suffering, determination and character. The brutal combination of La Cruz, Colladiella, Cueña and Carabanzo completely shattered the peloton and turned the race into pure survival.

And this was exactly where something almost unbelievable began to happen.

Edgar Cadena rode himself into the hearts of the entire team with incredible determination, passion and fighting spirit. While many of the favorites were watching each other, Edgar seized his opportunities with absolute confidence.

On Stage 3, he launched a stunning solo attack and sensationally managed to defeat riders such as Nairo Quintana, Adria Pericas and Diego Pescador.

But what initially felt like a dream became even bigger the following day.

Edgar won again !!!!

Two stage victories at an international race of this level — against WorldTour and ProTeam competition — felt almost unreal for everyone within Storck – MRW BAU. It was one of those moments in cycling that nobody inside the team will ever forget.

The emotions after the second victory were overwhelming. Riders, staff members and everyone around the project understood that something truly special had just happened. Weeks, months and years of hard work, sacrifices, setbacks and sleepless nights suddenly turned into two magical days on the roads of Asturias.

At the end of the race, Edgar secured an outstanding sixth place overall:

For Storck – MRW BAU, this race was far more than just another event on the calendar. The Vuelta Asturias showed that this young project is beginning to establish itself on the international stage.

And maybe this week was exactly the moment when an ambitious Continental team started becoming a true international racing team.
